2018 – Gone in a Flash

15194-blog-dialogic-yearend-imgA common question I’ve heard asked over the past few weeks is, “Where did 2018 go?”. I genuinely can’t believe it myself as I sit here typing this blog. Traditionally a time for reflection and review, the end of the calendar year is also a time for thinking about aspirations and goals for 2019.

Another question I’ve heard a lot recently in my home is, “Do you think you will be on the ‘naughty’ or ‘nice’ list?”. I understand that not everyone celebrates Christmas but it’s a big deal in my home with my young sons slowly bubbling away like a shaken bottle of fizzy drink pending the arrival of Saint Nicholas. In reviewing and reflecting on 2018, this question seems applicable to Dialogic as well. While the year has flown, its only when you sit back and let the high-speed life-train stop briefly, that you realize a lot has been accomplished. The year was kicked off in impressive fashion with the sale of our hardware division, which enabled the company to reach one of its primary goals – to become a pure software company. This step was vitally important and signals the intent and transformation of a company that has a long and impressive tradition in hardware. A fond farewell to the end of an era.

The year then continued with the initial launch of the DialogicONE application orchestration and integration platform, which allows development and deployment of applications in 1/3 the time and 1/10 the cost of traditional programming methods. Combine that ability with the powerful integration of new IoT, AI, and machine learning technologies, and the possibilities are limitless.

Also launched at the beginning of 2018 was the exciting Dialogic BUZZ unified communication platform. A marriage of existing, hardened technology like the Dialogic PowerMedia XMS/MRB, Dialogic PowerVille Load Balancer, and Dialogic BorderNet Session Border Controller, blended with exciting new components like DialogicONE, to produce a truly disruptive offering. And to cap it all off by winning an impressive award from Capacity Media provides a glimpse of what is to come!

It’s also a fair reflection from my perspective that it’s been the “Year of the Cloud” for Dialogic. It’s often been claimed that my head is in the clouds. That is becoming increasingly true with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and cloud evolving over several years with a huge amount of surrounding hype. While I don’t have specific figures, the number of new and existing Dialogic customers who solely base software deployments on either public or private clouds now dominates the landscape. This justifies the legacy and ongoing emphasis that Dialogic has placed in such technologies and stands our product portfolio in good stead for 2019 and beyond.

There is so much more I could talk about, but I don’t want to take up too much of your time. In summary it’s a fair assumption that Dialogic stormed onto the ‘Nice’ list for 2018. So now to the exciting part, the hopeful list of gifts and expectations to be delivered in 2019.

The list is short and simple – “More of the same, only better.” 2018 was a breakthrough year for Dialogic and provides a perfect platform and launch pad for 2019. Dialogic is all fired up and ready to go in the new year. Get in touch with the team to find out more about our exciting initiatives throughout the impressive software product portfolio.

And season’s greetings and a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year to you all and your families.
