A common question I’ve heard asked over the past few weeks is, “Where did 2018 go?”. I genuinely can’t believe it myself as I sit here typing this blog. Traditionally a time for reflection and review, the end of the calendar year is also a time for thinking about aspirations and goals for 2019.

Several weeks ago I wrote a blog that documented my time from a fledgling start-up company based in the UK to joining the Dialogic family. In that musing, I referenced the exciting experience over the last couple of years as the company reinvented itself into one that is lean, agile, and ready and able to succeed in the new world of virtualization and cloud. Remaining on the same theme, this blog delves a little deeper into the world of Dialogic to reveal exactly how we have remodelled the very core of the company from the ground up though our product offerings.

When my daughters were younger, I remember getting them a secret agent kit. One of the activities in the kit was to build a cipher wheel, which basically consisted of a smaller disk and larger disk fastened together. In my daughters’ kit, both disks had the alphabet printed on them, but they could also contain numbers or symbols. Once a cipher key was selected, for example, the letter 'O' on the inner disk might correspond to the letter 'J' on the outer disk, my daughters then had a pattern set up that allowed them encode and decode secret messages.

As part of Intel in the late 1990’s the Dialogic division saw a window into the incredible processing power of the forthcoming Intel CPUs and decided to port the media processing DSP functions such as echo cancel, play/record, codec creation, conferencing and speech processing, to name a few, to the Intel processor.

“In Many Cases, Media Servers Make or Break the Real-Time Video Application.”
So it says in the beginning of the white paper “Building Real-Time Video Apps that Scale” written by BlogGeek.Me. I couldn’t agree more considering media servers are at the heart of real-time communication applications.
